Inland Andalucia Holiday Factsheet
Andaluca is a region steeped in history, much of which reflects on the way it is today. Ruins and ancient buildings of the past dominate many of the inland towns, bringing sheer delight to those who choose to visit them. Even outside the towns, there are many “Pueblo Blanco’s”, quaint little villages made up of white washed buildings that contrast greatly with the picturesque countryside.
It’s quite a bold move to have a holiday away from the safety of a booming resort town on the coast. It’s by far the best way to experience the lives and loves of Andalucía. Driving through the area you will notice that Andalucía is made up of many national parks, that include a wide range of plants, trees, birds and other protected species. Many of the parks have guided tours taking you through the mountains; bikes can also be hired to save tired feet.
Although visitor numbers are growing inland, the main source of income is still down to industry and agriculture. Many of the areas in this region are very fertile, allowing for a wide range of fruits and vegetables to be grown. Animal breeding is also rather common and includes the famous Iberian pig and well as sheep and bulls. Ceramics and pottery are also on display in many villages, they are normally painted in bright colours and make a great addition to any family home, giving you a constant reminder of a fabulous holiday.
