About the property

La Casa de la Caldera is a beautifully restored Finca, Its rustic Canarian style has been sensitively retained and yet it now offers modern comfort and convenience including a private 10 metre swimming pool surounded by extensive sun terraces and well maintained gardens.

The Finca is divided into 3 fully self contained apartments.

La Puesta del Sol and El Patio apartments, each have two double bedrooms. A third apartment El Aljibe is a one bedroom apartment.

La puesta del Sol has a twin bedroom on the ground floor with double doors opening onto a private sun terrace and a double bedroom on the first floor, with large shuttered windows that give wonderful views across the hills and Femes valley. Both rooms have inbuilt wardrobes.

The apartment has a spacious lounge that features a large roof window set in a 14ft high ceiling that ensures that the room is bathed in light during the day and at night you can sit in comfort and study the stars. It is equipped with satellite television, DVD and hi fi system and has a fully operational traditional Canarian fireplace.

The well equipped kitchen/breakfast room has views down the Femes valley from windows that open onto the private sun terrace. As well as the modern conveniences of a full sized oven, ceramic hob, microwave, washing machine and fridge freezer, the kitchen has the original Canarian bread oven as an interesting architectural feature.

El Patio has a twin and a double bedroom both with shuttered doors and windows opening onto the cool and secluded inner courtyard (El Patio).

The spacious lounge has a high beamed ceiling and views over open countryside to the west. Two sets of double doors open onto the inner courtyard that provides a wonderfully shaded retreat for relaxing and dining. This is for the exclusive use of El Patio when the apartments are let separately. The lounge is equipped with satellite television, DVD and hi fi system and has a fully operational traditional Canarian fireplace.

A well equipped kitchen/breakfast room opens onto a private dining and barbeque area which in turn opens directly to the pool and surrounding sun terraces. The kitchen is fully equipped with a full sized oven, electric hob, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge freezer.

Both Puesta del Sol and El Partio apartments have modern bathrooms with bath and shower, wash basin with well lit mirror over, toilet and bidet.

The double bedroom of the El Aljibe apartment is built into what was once the rock lined underground water storage tank (El Aljibe). It is a very cosy room lit by a roof window. On the ground floor, the apartment has a well equipped kitchen/ lounge/dining area and a shower room. The lounge area is equipped with DVD and CD players. The apartment is positioned on the far side of the pool from the main house which gives it total privacy and ready access to the pool.

The well maintained gardens are set within a high volcanic rock wall. Extensive sun terraces surround a solar heated, 10 metre swimming pool. To the side of the pool is a traditional Canarian bowls court.

Whilst the apartments offer peace to those that wish to relax, swim, read, paint or walk into the surrounding hills, it is very well located for those that wish to be more active. Good restaurants and bars are within easy reach in the neighbouring villages of Femes, Uga and Yaiza and the marinas at Puerto Calero and Rubicon. The larger resorts of Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen are within easy reach and some of the best beaches on the island at Papagayo are within 10 minutes drive.

La Casa de la Caldera is a traditional Finca built around a central courtyard. It is divided into three fully self contained apartments. Although these are let individually, the whole unit may be rented for large groups (up to 12). When jointly let, the apartments are all given access to the central courtyard. This offers a secluded area, partially shaded for relaxing and open air dining.

About Femes, Lanzarote

Femés was one of the first European settlements on the island, and the village church of San Marcial de Rubicon was the first cathedral to be built in the Canary Islands. Femés is worth a visit and is a special experience, both from a culinary point of view, as well as a wonderful view.

Our local managers are long term Lanzarote residents and are able to provide advice on best restuarants, local attractions and sporting facilities including golf, walking, cycling, diving and riding.

The villa is adjacent to a national park that stretches to the coast to the South and West. This offers some wonderful hill and coastal walks directly accessible from the apartments. Maps and guidebooks are provided in the apartments.

About us

Sue and I were introduced to Lanzarote 12 years ago by one of our sons and since then have had a love affair with the island. I am a business consultant working in the IT industry and Sue is a retired full time mum.

What we love about our property

It is a beautifully restored traditional Canarian Finca set in a tranquil rural setting in the Femes valley. We love the original Canarian architecture and particularly the internal courtyard which is a shaded oasis, ideal for outside dining. It is a wonderful place to unwind and recharge the batteries.
