About the property

Finca el Rio is situated in a pretty and peaceful spot on the banks of the Rio Grande near the village of Guaro in Andalucia. It extends to 2 acres in all with very pretty gardens, citrus groves, beautiful trees, a lovely swimming pool and patio area and is an ideal location for a tranquil and relaxing holiday. It is also perfect for anyone who enjoys walking and birdwatching.

The accommodation consists of a clean and modern 2 bedroomed holiday chalet which the owners have located some distance from their own villa enclosed in its own peaceful garden area with a pergola, hammock and sunbeds as well as plenty of shade trees if the sun gets too much.

The chalet, which has the advantage of air conditioning, central heating, full double glazing and roller shutter blinds, consists of a good sized open plan living area with plenty of seating, a dining area for 4 and a fully fitted kitchen which is equipped with a 4 ring gas hob, microwave oven, large fridge/freezer, electric kettle, toaster and a good selection of pots, pans, crockery and glassware etc. Satellite TV with all the free to view channels, is installed here as well as a DVD player, a CD player, radio and a good selection of CDs, DVDs, books and games. In addition the area has the benefit of a WiFi internet connection and a BBQ. A laundry service is provided free of charge.

There are 2 bedrooms in the chalet, one double and one twin, a shower room with hand wash basin and a separate toilet also with hand wash basin. There is also plenty of storage space.
A cot is also available free of charge and can replace one of the beds in the twin room.

Outside the chalet is a good sized garden partly laid to lawn and partly stoned. In this you will find a pergola with a patio set for al fresco dining and a hammock in the orange trees for that after dinner siesta. The chalet has its own private access and plenty of parking space.

A little bridge takes you over a stream at the back of the chalet and a winding path takes you through the charming gardens to the swimming pool and patio areas which you are free to use up until 9.00 pm at night. There is also a wonderful state of the art hydro-therapy hot tub/jacuzzi for you to enjoy (not suitable for children or pregnant women) and delightful sunny or shady areas for you to relax in.

There is also a sauna on the premises for which the owners make a small additional charge to cover the cost of electricity.

In conclusion then this lovely holiday chalet at Finca el Rio offers excellent accommodation for anyone looking for a quiet retreat for a relaxing holiday. The grounds of Finca el Rio are quite delightful, the owner, being a keen gardener, has designed and produced a charming garden with a mixture of formal and wilderness areas with plenty of places tucked away to sit and enjoy it in.

For a larger party there is also a double studio apartment with kitchen and shower room which can be taken for an additional £150, £200 or £225 per week. Ideal for extra friends or grandparents.

The price is fully inclusive of all gas, electricity, linen, towels and a welcome pack.

Christmas and Easter charged at the mid-season rate of £275.

50% deposit secures with the balance due 6 weeks before the start of your holiday.

Changeover day is flexible.

Children are free to play in the chalet garden and stream but must be supervised in the pool and tropical gardens.

Owner's Tips...

Finca el Rio is ideally located to explore this charming and peaceful part of Andalucia, away from all the crowds. There are some lovely walks around the area which the owners will be only to happy to point out to you and the bird live is varied and interesting. There are 2 good bar/restaurants within a short stroll of the chalet so you can have a meal and a drink in the evening and not worry about driving.

The nearest village is Guaro, which is about 5 kms. away, and here you will find a few shops bars and restaurants.Then a bit further on, 10kms. away, is Coin which is a very lively Spanish market town where you will find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants plus a cinema and bowling alley. Also within easy distance is the lovely old town of Ronda and the historic city of Granada with the beautiful Alhambra Palace.

If you wish to avail yourself of all that the Costa del Sol has to offer with its long sandy beaches,excellent shopping, restaurants, night-life and golf courses then Marbella is just 30 minutes away.

Local events which maybe of interest to visitors are the Romeria which takes place on the banks of the river around 15th. May and celebrates the patron St. of agriculture San Isidro, there is much dancing and merrymaking well into the small hours.

Then, around 9th. September, depending on the phase of the moon, is the Luna Moro in Guaro which attracts many hundreds of people, there are lots of stalls lit by candles, bars are set up and there are concerts and dancing etc. again into the wee hours.

About us

My name is Ruth Polak and I live with my family near to the village of Casares in the mountains of Andalucia. We bought a run down Finca of 30,000 sq m. of land in 1992 and my husband, being a builder, renovated and built the house up.

I began renting an apartment on our Finca and our house in the village of Casares about 6 years ago and since then I have taken on other peoples villas and apartments to rent for them.

I thoroughly enjoy helping people to organize their holidays and using my knowledge of the area to help them to get the most out of their holiday on the Costa del Sol. I also work closely with my owners to ensure that their properties offer holiday makers good quality accommodation at reasonable prices.

“The stay at Finca El Rio from July to August 2009 was unforgettable. The landscape is gorgeous: walks along the river and amid the eucalyptus, fishery ... The property is beautiful with its many varieties of plants and trees. We were able to pick oranges on the tree for breakfast in the morning! Access to the pool and jacuzzi is very easy. But what we loved most of all is the friendliness of the owners Frank and Lina. They are always ready to discover the good plans that no tourist would find one: small restaurants, lakes ... We decided to return 4 weeks in July and August 2010.”
